EXERCISE 2.11: VISUAL METAPHORS

I looked at the following examples of visual metaphors on Pinterest:

I then drew a visual list of objects or subject relating to the following phrase:

Dreams of romance

After making a visual list to generate ideas, I tried to think of something I could illustrate in relation to the topic.

I love the following quote and decided to use it as inspiration for my illustration:

“Between what is said and not meant, and what is meant and not said, most of love is lost” – Khalil Gibran –

The concept is: the 2 characters are misunderstanding each other while their souls, (which are represented by the shadows) love each other and are holding hands.

I created my illustration digitally using Procreate. I tried out different coloured backgrounds. I think the solid colours looked better than the sky as background.

REFLECTION:

I struggled with this exercise and although I tried, I am not sure whether I actually managed to complete this exercise effectively.
