FEBRUARY – SKETCHBOOK CIRCLE

REFLECTION:

For this months’ sketchbook circle, I decided to focus on responding to the prompts by turning my illustrations into animations using Procreate. I created a fairy/ butterfly character by painting a wooden doll and printing wings to glue on. I then added eyes using collage, drew on facial features and arms digitally.

PROMPT – WEATHER:

BRAINSTORMING:

PROCESS:

I re-used the greenery background which I created for the story ‘Super Sally & Dolly Dragon’, as a frame for these 4 illustrations. I added a photograph to use as blue background. I used a ‘check’ pattern for the sun & stripy pattern for the ground. I re-used my favourite trees, which I created when responding to previous sketchbook circle prompts. I added the hammock using mark-making, bubblewrap printing.

The background stayed the same for the 4 illustrations, with only some changes to adapt to the different weather/ seasons.

Winter: I added puddles using mark-making, blowing watercolour paint with a straw. I used different ‘sketching’ & ‘elements’ choices from the Procreate brush library to add raindrops and clouds.

Autumn:

I used a photograph of autumn leaves I’ve taken before, and used it to create leaves on the ground & blowing around. 1 Cloud remains in the illustration.

Summer:

I added more green leaves for the summer illustration.

Spring:

I added a lot of colourful flowers and leaves using collage/layers, and added more leaves using some of the sketching tools from the brush library.

For these illustrations, I used the same greenery background as a frame and the blue photograph for the sky. I based my illustration on the idea of the ‘pac-man’ game and adapted it to the ‘game of love’
